The Margel VPI580 Microporous cartridge contains the blended components of fast, medium and long term protection.

QED’s VPI580 Margel product’s three elements work in combination to provide comprehensive corrosion protection. The combination of these products work in unison as an Ambiodic solution, i.e. working on both anode and cathode through electrolytic protective action.
The products work by first forming a bond on the steel surface and by forming a barrier layer to aggressive ions. They are secondary electrolyte type, possessing sufficiently high vapour pressures to allow significant vapour transport of the active inhibitor component. They adsorb onto the steel surface and can ionize, resulting in electrolytic protective action, as well as forming a physical barrier to Oxygen and Water.
From initial work on the development of the product in the early 1990’s, it was found that the combination of products works well even in concrete with very high chloride levels, and that rate of travel for the components was very satisfactory for commercial use, the fast acting component being identified in concrete at a depth of 1 metre from the point of insertion after 4 days.
Margel VPI580 is supplied in a 10ml hermetically sealed cartridge. Each cartridge contains a blend of all three active ingredients and should be installed by a Margel approved contractor to the exact dosage recommended by the manufacturer.
Technical advice should be sought in the identification and specification of problems associated with reinforcement corrosion in concrete.
